Hazel Garden

Hazel Community Garden is a half-acre city owned property on Main Street that is managed by the NoMa & Prospect Hill Neighborhood Associations. This location is steps away from several upcoming large scale residential developments (+1,500 residents) and the upcoming San Lorenzo Creek bike trail. It's central location, accessibility and boom in population make it the ideal location for a community gathering space.   Briefly describe project: The project transforms this underutilized community space to host daily activities as well as larger community gatherings. We have conducted community survey and scoped the project to include a dog run, gardening beds and multipurpose seating areas to create an outdoor escape from the demands of daily life. We also have plans to build a stage with an event kit to include all the basics for city residents to host inexpensive events. How does this build community in your neighborhood?
